In January 2024, Perkiomen welcomed Lea Blackburn, MS, LAT, ATC as the school's full-time Athletic Trainer.

"I am incredibly excited to be joining the Perkiomen community because since I stepped foot on campus, I felt so welcomed by all of the faculty and students and it truly felt like where I am meant to be," says Ms. Blackburn. "I have previously worked at the collegiate level, and I am excited to bring my experiences and skills to these high-level athletes. I am also currently receiving my doctorate degree in athletic training, specializing in education, so I really loved the aspect of the faculty members having advisees. I am excited to also teach those students that are interested in sports medicine."

Ms. Blackburn is a graduate of West Chester University where she earned both a Bachelor and a Master of Science in Athletic Training. She also worked at West Chester as an Athletic Trainer to the men’s and women’s track and field, cross country, and cheerleading team, and most recently at Cabrini University where she was the Head Athletic Trainer for all sports.

Ms. Blackburn's additional experience includes being a Teaching Assistant, Physical Therapist Aide, and  Home and Community Support Aide. She is the Dwight Patterson Youth Scholarship Winner, A.T. Still University Osteopathic Medicine where she is pursuing her Doctor of Athletic Training, with expected graduation in June 2025.

“As our students continue to excel in our athletic programs, having first-rate athletic training services available to them is a necessity," says Director of Athletics Mike Kruger. "Lea’s experience teaching and in college athletics make her a great fit for our athletic department. We could not be more excited to add her to the Perkiomen community.”
