Laurel Reese ’22 has a passion and dedication for running, garnered by her coaches – both present and past – at Perkiomen School. Through practice and competition, she has developed a strong work ethic and drive, inspired by the coaching staff throughout her career as a Panther. As a member of the cross-country team, Laurel has proven herself to be a valued member and teammate, so far contributing to cross country’s success this year and personally winning the Penn-Jersey League Championship.

Laurel participated in the Broad Street Run on October 10. The Broad Street Run is a Philadelphia tradition that has been run for the past 40 years. It is the largest 10-mile race in the country with 19,250 runners participating in this year’s run. Laurel entered the race for the third consecutive year to compete among some of the best runners in the area and across the country. She was able to place fourth overall in her age group coming in as the youngest runner in the top 4 runners in the group.

She also recently competed in a half marathon in Philadelphia. Out of 1,750 runners, Laurel placed 203rd overall, out of the 69 women runners, she placed 34th, and in her age group (female 15-19) she placed 5th out of the 16 runners. She completed the 13.1 miles in 1 hour, 47 minutes and 5 seconds.

Congratulations, Laurel!
