On June 28, Perkiomen School was able to witness one of its own fulfill a lifelong dream as Ryan Dunn ’22 was selected as the 28th pick in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, and is expected to be traded to the Phoenix Suns. 

Dunn was viewed as the best defensive prospect in the draft according to ESPN’s Jay Bilas after a standout year at the University of Virginia. The 6’7” forward averaged 8.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game, earning him All-ACC Honorable Mention and being named to the All-ACC Defensive Team, in which he also led the league in total shots blocked.

During Dunn's time at Perkiomen as a post graduate in the 2021-2022 school year, he led the Boys National Team to a 26-9 record, with wins over nationally ranked opponents such as Springfield Commonwealth Academy, South Kent School, SPIRE Academy, and No. 3 Mt. Zion Prep, in which Dunn scored the game winning buzzer beater. In addition, the Panthers made their first appearances at the PAISAA Boys Basketball Championship and the National Prep Championship.

Dunn becomes the first Panther in Perkiomen School history to be drafted in the first round of the NBA Draft.
