PG & Prep Year
POST GRADUATE YEAR
A post graduate year (often abbreviated to PG or post grad) is an additional year beyond high school graduation. Post grad opportunities are only offered at independent schools like Perkiomen.
A student may consider enrolling in an additional year of high school to better prepare for college in several areas. Perkiomen School offers a focused living and learning experience designed to help boarding students make the transition from high school to college.
This additional year can often be what brings it all together. It can create an experience that will allow a student to mature socially and academically, and to enhance study skills and time management. For students that want to compete athletically in college, the additional year can help a student mature physically and strengthen their athletic abilities.
RECLASSIFYING
Reclassifying (or repeating) is for a student that wants to add an additional year of high school by enrolling in the same grade they just completed, essentially repeating that academic year. This can be an opportunity for a younger student who would like an additional year to grow academically by repeating any number of classes that had been completed at their current school. The year can also allow a student to grow physically and emotionally, while also allowing a student to stay at a particular school for more than one academic year.
